Nike SQ MachSpeed Black STR8-FIT Driver
First shot was 20 yards longer than my old driver and dead down the middle. It certainly delivers performance to match the looks and it is everything you would expect from a better players driver with a great feel, good sound and medium high trajectory. Face adjustability allows testers to swing away with confidence; several testers experience a medium-high, straightish ball flight.
I found that the ball flight was too high for my liking, but the str8-flt was impressive. The Square version of the driver has a larger surface area and the sloping profile looked much smoother and less chunky than Nike’s previous square drivers.
The round head is meant for golfers who seek more workability. The str8-flt weighs in at less than grams and it results in a totally different feel from most standard drivers. After the experience on the range and a few minor adjustments, I felt like I had a decent feel for what I needed to do to get the driver flying well. Tuesday, March 15, Nike has a sure winner here. The black face of the club provides a nice feedback mechanism with the ability to clearly see where the ball is coming off of the face of the club.
Higher-than-normal flight and a draw bias makes the club a good choice for golfers with a lot of st8-fit in their game. Clubhead adjustability is a welcome sight, especially for golfers who need slice correction. Impact is soft and satisfying; loud, aluminum bat sound gives loads of feedback on well-struck shots. After making the adjustments a few times, I was sqq to quickly modify the settings when needed. During my first round, I noticed that I was consistently hitting the ball a little high on the face and I was able to achieve additional distance and improve sweet spot contact consistently by teeing my ball lower than I normally do.
