Actually finding a spare drive jumper in the house was another matter entirely — but when I finally did, the drive appeared in the BIOS and everything went according to plan. Ive never had a problem with Sata drives before and nobody else seems to be experiencing similar problems I was so impressed that I ordered a second hard drive just like the first for backups. Also see page 54 on setting boot device.
I was not aware that there was such a thing as SATA speed autonegotiation, so I have learned something new satta. But basically I’ve reformatted the drive several times, including with the Data LIfeguard tools like the instructions for the drive say, but it windows says that there is no hard drive when attempt to install it.

Yes, and you thought jumpers weren’t needed for SATA drives -think again! Looked in BIOS under integrated peripherals.
